Carpet Foot-Traffic Test
How much should You spend on new carpet? Your new carpet will wear out too fast unless the carpet you choose is capable of withstanding your home's unique level of foot-traffic. I designed this simple 6-question test to help you determine your level of foot-traffic based on several key variables.
Once you know your foot traffic score, you can use my free Carpet Durability Chart to help you locate, identify and compare carpets that are specifically designed to meet all your needs, goals and lifestyle. Then you can determine how much you need to spend on new carpet, padding and installation.
This test helps define the level of foot traffic you have in the busiest areas of your home. These areas are usually the living room, family room, dining room, stairs and hallways. Bedrooms usually have low foot traffic. To determine your Carpet Foot-Traffic Score, answer the following 6 questions carefully and add up your points:
1. How many adults live in your home?
2. Do you have children, teenagers or pets?
3. Do you entertain or have grandchildren?
4. How often do you vacuum thoroughly?
5. How often do you have your carpets professionally cleaned?
6. How Large is Your Home?
10 to 24 points = You have Low Foot Traffic
25 to 34 points = You have Medium Foot Traffic
35 to 44 points = You have Moderate Foot Traffic
45 points & up = You have Heavy Foot Traffic
